I'm probably about to date myself, but when I was growing up, October 31 was a much more laid back affair than it is now. I don't remember having "pop up" costume stores that showed up months and months before the actual day, filled with every type of costume and prop imaginable for adults and kids alike. My parents bought us costumes occasionally, but we usually made our own by rifling through whatever we could find at home and turning it into something fun or clever. Today everything is much more sophisticated, complete with incredibly detailed and expensive costumes and lifelike and seemingly complex indoor and outdoor decor. It seems like an artform with set-ups that get more and more elaborate every year. In honor of the big day, I thought I would check out the best animatronic Halloween Decorations for indoor or outdoor use. It's never too early to be prepared to wow your neighbors with your awesome display.
I picked out my favorite spooky display based on a few things. First, I am personally not a fan of gory things, so I left those of the list. I like a little whimsy mixed in with my horror. Call me a wimp if you must but "it is what it is." Next, I looked at the price point. I expect to spend some money to get good quality item but I didn't want to "break the bank.." I have to make sure I have money left for the good candy!
I also checked out the reviews. If the feedback was less than stellar I passed it up. Lastly, I wanted them to be more life like because I think they're more fun to look at and it take the holiday preparations to the "next level."
I think this one is my favorite. I chose it because it reminds me of the classic Hansel and Gretel story. It comes with a fogger to add to the experience. I like the fact that the witch talks and she's tall standing at about 6 ft 6-inches tall. There is nothing subtle about this and it would be great for both indoor or outdoor use.
No Hallow's Eve is complete without a ghostly musical trio. This reminds a lot of the Pirate's of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland and that's why I like it so much. It is motion activated and best used in covered areas.
I love Jack from the Nightmare before Christmas and this is classic Jack in his pinstriped suit. That's the reason why he made it unto my short list. Looking at this figurine makes me think of the whimsical movie soundtrack and I get to relive the nightmare again.
This is for indoor use only. Jack says several phrases and stands about 6-feet tall. This is absolutely perfect for fans of the movie.
Leaning on his ghostly cane in his tattered clothes, this big fellow does it all. He talks, moves and has flashing lights. You get the full spooky experience with him. I chose him for my favorites list because he is scary without being horribly gory. I love that you get a complete range of actions. This is a great addition to any haunted collection.
This creepy ghost bride is perfect for indoor or outdoor use. She is about 5 and a half feet with red flashing eyes. She is giving me "black widow" vibes and I really like that . If you're looking for a figurine that is life like enough in size and stature to fool people into thinking it's real, then you'll probably get a kick out her.
